About Our MOT Class 4 Tests

We have been authorised by the Driver And Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) to perform MOT Inverness tests. Our facility hosts a team of certified testers who follow the DVSA guidelines while inspecting the following car parts:

Tyres and wheels: The tyres must be the right speed and load rating for the vehicle, must not have any damages, and have at least 1.6 mm of tread depth.

Brakes: The braking system must be in optimal condition.

Lights: The condition, operation, security, and colour of the vehicle's lights are checked.

Steering and suspension: The components are checked for correct condition and operation.

Other items: The vehicle's body, structure, exhaust, fuel, and emissions are checked.

Additional checks include the inspection of mirrors, doors, boot, tailgate, and tow bar where relevant, seats, windscreen, wipers, washer, electrical systems, and ensuring the driver's unobstructed view of the road.

Note: An MOT doesn't cover the condition of the engine, clutch, or gearbox.

After the inspection, we will issue any one of the following MOT certificates depending on your car’s condition:

VT20: It indicates that your car has cleared its MOT test and can be driven legally throughout the UK.

VT30: It means your vehicle has major, or dangerous defects and fails to meet the standards to be driven legally. All issues mentioned in the report must be rectified and a partial retest must be carried out. Only then a VT20 can be issued
